Is this actually possible..... I'm conviced it's not, I just lost my mind a little

I pressed C by accident and now I can't get out of the crouch position...

That's what I've been doing, it's still just a barrel and I'm so confused

I just started playing this game but I've had to restart 3 times because it will not let me build a water purifier. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, or I'm dumb, but I can craft it, and it'll be in my inventory, and then I'll go to place it and it just gives me a barrel. And most of the time that barrel just rolls of the raft and is never seen again. Help?
